ELISABETH CONNOR- 'HOUSE'

ELISABETH CONNOR- 'HOUSE'

In association with ARC, Stockton Arts Centre

Collaborative performance opportunity

Elisabeth Connor is looking for dance and theatre performers to participate in a re-
working of a performance installation originally conceived and performed in collaboration
with Kip Johnson, Elodie Frati, Amerjit Mann and Lindy Nsingo.

Elisabeth is also interested in exploring the use of film within the work, so film-makers
and artists are also invited to apply.

Created through extensive research of privacy, social acceptance and personal
experience, 'HOUSE' is an immersive, surreal and mysteriously poignant performance
installation.

Inspired by Freud's concept of the 'Unheimlich', along with images by Gregory Crewdson,
this enigmatic work revolves around the details that displace a situation from what is
'acceptable'.

The audience stumble upon the secrets that lay behind closed doors as the inhabitants
compel to question personal habits, rituals, secrets and obsessions.

How uncomfortable, amusing or simply tragic can a situation appear when it is a
reflection of your own life?

You can see a film of the original work here: http://www.vimeo.com/19356530

Applicants should ideally have experience in both movement and theatre- based work,
and be comfortable with improvisation individually, and as a group.

The first stage is a week-long development and creative process working towards a
performance at ARC in Stockton to showcase the work. Although we are not able to pay
fees, expenses up to £150 for the week can be claimed.

Subject to funding, there will be a performance fee for the second stage of the project
later in the year.

Rehearsal dates: Mon 12 – Fri 16 Sept 2011
Performance date: Fri 16 Sept 2011

To apply please send your CV and cover letter of interest and availability to
e.a_connor@hotmail.co.uk by Fri 8 July 2011

Auditions will be held on Sat 16 July 2011 at ARC.
