2/ ACCIDENTAL FESTIVAL

An exciting and innovative arts festival driven by the desire to provide upcoming artists with a platform to show work alongside more established artists.

The Accidental Festival is a flagship event under the Cultural Camden initiative, a cross–sector collaboration between Central School of Speech and Drama, the Roundhouse and the Hampstead Theatre.

There has never been a more important time for creative thinking in the cultural sector, and these three organisations have come together to enable the development of innovative practice across the sector through the Accidental Festival, taking place at The Roundhouse May 19th – 22nd.

As part of Accidental Festival Forced Entertainment present Quizoola! on May 21st. “What is the capital city of Spain? Why are people afraid to die? What is a tree? Was John Wayne really brave? Are you a natural blonde?” Three actors smeared in clown make–up ask each other a selection of 2000 questions – some banal, some ridiculous, some probing – in a performance which is one moment pub quiz and the next interrogation.

Quizoola! is a dark, hilarious and absurd performance from international innovators Forced Entertainment.

Paid Administration Intern Opportunity (3 months)

We are currently seeking a confident, committed, and enthusiastic individual for a three month Administration Internship at our London office for 2-3 days per week from the end of May to end August 2011.

The Intern will assist in day-to-day running of the organisation with emphasis on membership support, project management assistance, marketing (on/offline) and general office management. You will work as part of a team and independently. Occasionally you may be required to work evenings and weekends e.g. attending NWN and other New Work sector events. The Internship is on a freelance basis and you will be responsible for your tax and national insurance. NWN will pay £70 per day.

New Work Network (NWN) is a national, artist-led organisation bringing together artists, producers, promoters, venues, academics and other practitioners involved in the New Work sector. Established in 1997, our mission is to support the development of artists engaged in experimental, interdisciplinary and boundary-breaking arts practices including: fine-art based performance, new media, live art, experimental dance, site-specific work, sonic art, moving image, sci-art and socially engaged practice.

We initiate unique, practice-based professional development programmes that respond to the specialist needs of artists to enable them to engage critically and contribute to society. We also nurture practitioners to be entrepreneurial by guiding them through the development of artist-led initiatives that provide them with fundamental and sustainable skills and generate activities that complement institutional cultures.

New Work Network also strives to advance social and cultural confidence in practitioners by motivating new routes for audiences, existing and new stakeholders, to access, experience, participate and invest in the often invisible, but absolutely essential processes, that sustain artists to ‘make work’.

Selection:

This Internship is ideal for an individual to build upon existing skills and gain further experience in the arts with a national organization, working in a diverse and creative environment
