1/ OFF CUT FESTIVAL
A call for new and undiscovered playwriting talent
On 1st March, In Company Theatre launches the eagerly anticipated Off Cut 2011 and is accepting short play submissions from new and undiscovered playwrights.
Following the sell-out successes of previous years, In Company Theatre will be moving the festival to the renowned Riverside Studios in Hammersmith this coming autumn.
Writers may submit plays of no more than 15 minutes in length. There are no restrictions on style, topic or genre.
Closing date for submissions is 1st June, after which, 28 plays will be selected to show in rep at the Riverside Studios over the first two weeks of the festival. During this time, the audience will be voting for their favourite plays. The top eight plays will run for the whole of the third week, with the audience still voting for the ultimate winner. This winner will have a full play produced by In Company at The Riverside Studios.
There will also be a panel of industry professionals, headed by the National Theatre’s Writer-in-Residence, Moira Buffini, on the final night. They will award further prizes for writing, directing and acting. Past panel members include Patricia Hodge, directors Nigel Douglas and Psyche Stott, writers Josephine Melville and Tena Stivicic, and literary agents Lisa Babelis and Anna Brewer.

3/ LONDON PLAYWRIGHTS’ COLLECTIVE
Opportunity to join the playwrighting community to develop new works in progress through monthly workshops, working towards being selected for readings at LPC Platform at Theatre503.
The London Playwrights’ Collective (LPC) is calling all interested writers/theatre practitioners to join its expanding community. Founded in 2007, LPC has enjoyed seeing many writers evolve and progress. This year LPC is offering membership which includes six writer's workshops (including actors and directors, and special workshop leaders) and one submission to the LPC Platform night produced at Theatre503 for £120.00.
The London Playwrights’ Collective is a collaborative, supportive, and proactive community of writers committed to the support of all emerging playwrights.
LPC members are encouraged to support each other in creating a positive sharing environment where participants can pool resources to evolve their development, and to contribute their input to the collective by suggesting exercises and topics.
During the series of workshops, members are invited to submit an extract of their works in progress to be considered for the LPC platform performance evening. The evening will consist of four professional rehearsed readings where the selected writers can see their work on its feet in front of an audience in autumn 2011 at Theatre 503. Theatre 503 is a “powerhouse of new writing” championing new writing and an Olivier Award Winner for Best New Play 2010.
To be considered for membership to attend this year’s LPC workshop programme please contact us on info@londonplaywrights.co.uk with your name, full contact details and a short writing CV.
