4/ LIFT PLACEMENTS
We are recruiting for 5 new placements to join our team from September to December. As this year is our 30th anniversary we have been presenting a range of events over the summer. We've hosted a 30th Birthday Picnic, contributed compelling work from the Near and Middle East to Shubbak Festival and flown the Sky Orchestra across London's sky.
We're continuing these celebrations over the autumn and up until Christmas. Placements make a vital contribution to us being able to deliver these events and we currently have a fantastic team who are here with us until the end of August.
"It was a great experience being part of the team and I am very inspired by all I have seen and learned through you!" Lea Seibert, Executive Assistant Placement.

Below we’ve tried to answer a few questions you may have:
Q. We are a collaborative team of 3 performers/ makers with no pre defined project but simply a desire to research together can we apply ?
A Yes – the structure provides an excellent way of consolidating and committing collaborative partnerships, you will also find it more affordable as you can share the £105 monthly fee
Q. Are the dates of the meetings fixed?
A. No – as it is a small group of artists there will be some flexibility with dates.
Q. How do I schedule my studio sessions?
A. You can book your studio sessions in whatever way suits you.

Q. Will I know who the other artists are before making my final decision?
A. Yes – you will be invited to meet individually with Caroline, and then as a group, before you decide.
Q. Can I apply for external funding?

We have been advised that it may form the basis of an application for Grants for the Arts.

6/ DIY WORKSHOP WITH PETE EDWARDS - 23 SEPTEMBER DEADLINE
The Invisible Obstacle Course
A game of strategy and unfamiliar territory
This DIY workshop takes place in London on the revised dates of Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 October 2011. Application deadline 23 September.
DIY 8 is an opportunity for artists working in Live Art to take part in unusual training and professional development projects conceived and run by artists for artists.
This project is aimed at Live and performance artists whose own voice and/or body are central to their work. This project is for you if you are experiencing a creative block, have reached a plateau in your artistic practice, or are feeling too defined by a signature performance style or approach, which presenters, commissioners, audiences or you yourself have come to expect. Through a series of ‘Obstructions’ specially devised for you, you will be taken outside of your performative comfort zone and expand your toolkit of strategies and techniques. You will be made to think about and use your body or voice in new and unfamiliar ways within structured activities, look at your work from a fresh perspective and hopefully come out the other end feeling challenged but inspired.
